I really feel the need to blog more at the moment but my week last week went totally out of control and this week, still on catch up I’m getting nowhere fast!!!
On Saturday I hosted a breakfast for the women at my church, Rise & Shine was a huge success and I just loved to see how many people came and to believe and know that women’s ministry is just growing and growing, its exciting! Oh and the food was just delicious!
I thought that I’d share my word with you girls too as its really on my heart for the year ahead…
‘Arise, Shine for the light has come and the Glory of the Lord has risen upon you’ Isaiah 60v1
The Amp version reads, ‘Arise from the depression in which circumstance has kept you – rise to a new life. Shine be radiant’
When I got this verse, I loved it, from it came the rise and shine breakfast and the years vision for women’s ministry. After Christmas when I started to put everything together for the year I decided I didn’t like it anymore and in my usual overthinking self doubt way I began to search for an alternative! I guess you know the rest……
Yup thats right – nothing but Isaiah 60v1 EVERYWHERE! Instead of seeing new verses I just got confirmation everywhere. On the very day I started looking Joel Osteen wrote ‘Arise and Shine for the Glory of the Lord is upon you. The word Glory in the original language implies Gods favour is heavy upon you. There’s emphasis on weight. Isaiah was saying that you didn’t get a little favour, enough to get by, you are heavy with favour.
So then I started to investigate further and looked up the word Rise…
*to move from a lower position to a higher one
*get up from lying down
*an increase in number, volume or size,
*be superior to
*a source of origin
I then looked up Shine…
*give out bright light
*be talented, perform well
*a quality of light produced when its reflected on something
*to dazzle, sparkle, glimmer and beam
I feel in my heart that this year we as women of God, women of the church and women of this community we are to move from a lower position to a higher one, we are to get up and rise, we are to increase our volume in what we do in the community, in the church, in the world, we are to be the origin of where people first find Jesus.
We are to be the shining light, we are to perform well (which means to be a good witness) Its our year to sparkle, to shine, to dazzle and to beam Gods light upon all those we meet.
Last year our scripture focus for our women ministry was 1Peter 3 and about being ourselves and that God sees us from the inside out, this ties in to this year as we rise and shine by just being ourselves by just being the shining light for God by being who we are in Jesus, by just walking in our faith, and by walking out the very things Jesus promises we are rising to a whole new level and shining so bright on those around us that the Glory of God will not only shine through us but upon us.
‘Heres another way to put it! You’re here to be light, bringing the God colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept, we’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a basket do you? I’m putting you on a light stand – Shine. Keep open house, be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous father in heaven. Matthew 5 14-16 Msg
My beautiful ladies, I pray for an amazing week and year ahead as you go out into the world, shining the brightest light and rising to a whole new level within God and yourselves, Lord I pray for protection and unity for us all. Its our year Lord, Its our year to shine bright for you and may your Glory shine upon us in doing the good works for you. Amen Sisters!!!
Have an amazing rest of the week xx
